Two of the most extreme anti-LGBTQ members of Congress are getting called “comically evil” after they were the only two to vote against a bill to help sick people get vital tissue transplants.
Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Lauren Boebert (R-CO) voted against the reauthorization of the TRANSPLANT Act on Thursday. The bill helps patients access bone marrow and umbilical cord blood transplants.

It’s the kind of bill that Democrats and Republicans can agree on, and most did. 215 Democrats and 200 Republicans voted in favor of the bill. Only Greene and Boebert broke ranks and voted against it – most of Congress’s far-right members like Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Greg Steube (R-FL) voted for it.

The congresswomen haven’t said why they voted against it. The bill does not spend much money, it saves lives, and it does not deal with fetal tissue.
Greene and Boebert are already facing harsh criticism for voting against the life-saving medical procedures.
“Comically evil and for no reason other than they’ll get talked about bc of the vote,” speculated one person on Twitter.

Others were just at a loss by what they perceived as needless cruelty.
"I'm against helping people with cancer" is uhh… quite the strategy

I’ve had a bone marrow transplant and have long been an advocate of the marrow donor program…it saves thousands of lives. I cannot, and have not ever heard any objection to such a simple and noble mission. These are garbage people and have no place in Congress.

As soon as you think they’ve reached the apex of awfulness, they kick it up a notch.

I literally cannot imagine why someone would vote against something like this except for some disgusting depraved version of spite. This is a program that saves lives and encourages people to help strangers they may never have known so that they can live a fuller life. wtf

Taking a stand against a bone marrow donor program is definitely… gutsy

Because the two of them are only there for the drama. They don’t care about helping anyone.

Both Greene and Boebert have been at the forefront of opposition to LGBTQ equality in Congress.
Greene introduced a bill to ban the rainbow flag from flying at U.S. embassies and co-sponsored an anti-trans bathroom bill.
She introduced multiple motions to shut down Congress just before it debated the Equality Act, which would ban anti-LGBTQ discrimination. The motions didn’t pass, but they forced her colleagues to vote on the pointless motions and ate up over an hour of debate time to make the point that LGBTQ discrimination should remain legal. She called the Equality Act “DISGUSTING, IMMORAL, AND EVIL” in a statement.
Greene, whose career in politics started by protesting Drag Queen Story Hours, put up a sign that said “There are TWO genders: MALE & FEMALE. ‘Trust The Science!’” in response to Rep. Marie Newman (D-IL) putting up a transgender flag outside of her office. Newman’s child is transgender.
Boebert led a press conference outside the Capitol when Congress was voting on the Equality Act, where she went on an unhinged rant full of fake claims about transgender pre-teens and told reporters she is raising her sons “to be men” and she is “proud of that.”
“The so-called Equality Act, which we all know is the Democrats using a play on words,” Boebert said during a media appearance this year. “There is nothing about equality in that act. If anything, it’s the supremacy for gays, lesbians, and transveshikes.”
She also took a brave stance against Spongebob Squarepants coming out as gay. The cartoon character has not come out.
