Candace Owens claims “world leaders…all seem to be homosexual” in wild conspiracy theory

Candace Owens’ conspiracy theories have continued to grow ever more unhinged since the former Daily Wire pundit lost her gig at the far-right website over her overt antisemitism in March. Most recently, she combined some of her greatest hits — antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, global elite pedophile rings, and, of course, French First Lady Brigitte Macron — into a real all-time whopper.

On the August 30 edition of her YouTube show Candace, Owens “interviewed” Xavier Poussard, head of the French far-right newsletter Faits et Documents and one of the key proponents in France of the baseless conspiracy theory that the French first lady is secretly transgender. During the course of their nearly 40-minute conversation, Owens and Poussard managed to spin Poussard’s spurious “proof” that “Brigitte Macron is really a man” into a global theory that finds a cabal of Satanists masquerading as Jews and conspiring to promote incest and child sexual abuse in an effort create a generation of world leaders who are psychopaths.

“This is very scary stuff,” a grave Owens claimed, alluding to the opening ceremony of this summer’s Paris Olympics, which included a tableau featuring drag queens recreating a tableau of a Dionysian feast that Christian conservatives mistook for Da Vinci’s Last Supper, as evidence of an effort to “indoctrinate the entire world into their satanic faith.”

“It is my belief that this is a synagogue of Satan,” Owens continued, clearly doubling down on the antisemitism that got her fired from The Daily Wire. “It is Biblical. It mentions this — people who are pretending to be Jews, but are in fact people that worship Satan, and it seems like a very small, incredibly powerful group of elites.”

Citing no evidence, Owens claimed she could “trace this through to Australia, to Switzerland, to France, to America, to Canada.” She claimed that her absurd conspiracy theory explains “why it is the circumstance that all of these world leaders that we have, even [Ukraine] President Zelensky, all seem to be homosexual” — which, to her, is a bad thing.

President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and, of course, French President Emmanuel Macron are all in heterosexual marriages, while Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Grégoire, separated in August 2023 and Swiss President Viola Amherd is single.

Owens, however, dismissed these facts. “Obviously, their relationships are not real,” she said.

“Emmanuel Macron had, when he got elected, a young man who came out and said that he had slept with Emmanuel Macron, and he said that he was a psychopath, that Emmanuel Macron was a psychopath,” Owens claimed.

The host provided no further details, but her wild claim echoes rumors that seem to have originated in Russian state-owned media in 2017, around the time Macron was elected.

Owens went on to claim that in her “research,” she “learned” that “psychologists were interested in how to create a psychopath. And one thing that they discovered was that if you rape a child, the chances are that they will have psychopathic tendencies when they’re older, that they will develop this neurosis, and that they will become psychopathic.”

According to Owens, the French public has come to realize that Macron is a psychopath, “that he seemed to be almost psychopathic and angry when COVID happened. Like, he liked to — Emmanuel Macron liked to inflict pain on the public.”

Owens has been fixated on the false claim that Brigitte Macron is trans for months, first discussing it in a since-deleted video in March. For her, all this talk about Satanists and psychopaths proves the outlandish conspiracy theory that the French first lady was born male and, at some point, assumed the identity of her sister. Owens and Poussard claim that Brigitte was 47 when she first met a 14-year-old Emmanuel (false; she was 40, he was 15; they married in 2007 when he was 30) and imply that because she is actually trans (she’s not), their sexual relationship while he was still a teen (there is no actual proof of this) turned the future French president into a psychopath (which there’s no proof of), which is supposedly all part of the Satanists’ master plan.
