Right-wing pundit says Obama talks to men like an effeminate “soy boy”

Trump-loving anti-LGBTQ+ radio host and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk called Barack Obama a “low testosterone soy boy” after the former president appeared in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to support Democratic presidential nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris.

Kirk said Obama’s speech was “the most femboy, effeminate, low testosterone, soy boy approach on how to talk to men,” parroting the Trump campaign’s obsession with stereotypical masculinity.

“That video needs to come with a warning for people that are easily nauseated.”

“You talk to men like you do in a football locker room, direct. You challenge them. You tell them what they ought to do,” Kirk continued. “You talk about duty. You talk about honor. You talk about the pursuit of greatness. He talks to them as if they are in a group therapy session with a bunch of middle-aged drug-addicted women.”

Kirk also claimed “no real man” should vote for Harris because “she hates you, her agenda will belittle you, will disempower you.” He also added that Obama is “not exactly a great example of an American strong man.”

Kirk also criticized Obama’s body language, saying he is “in the corner, kind of just slunched over.”

Donald Trump and his running mate Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) have positioned themselves as “strongman” candidates who will “protect” women by upholding conservative gender roles. The entire extreme right, it seems, has exploded with denigrations of so-called “beta” males and praise for traditional versions of “alpha” males.

Fox host Jesse Watters, for example, consistently attacks the masculinity of Democratic men when they do basic things like use straws. In August, he criticized Democratic vice presidential candidate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D), for the way he waves, saying, “Men should not move this way. It’s not the way we move,” before accusing him of having a crush on Kamala Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff.

In February, Watters attacked Biden for eating ice cream, saying “[It’s] just not a good look.”

Last week, Trump called longtime radio personality Howard Stern a “beta male” for making “a fool of himself on his low-rated radio show when he ‘interviewed’ Lyin’ Kamala Harris, and hit her with so many softball questions that even she was embarrassed.”

Kirk’s insults toward Obama were likely referring to a speech the former president made at a Harris field office. During his speech, Obama spoke directly to Black male voters about the importance of supporting Harris amid reports that her popularity among this group remains relatively low.

“You’re thinking about sitting out or supporting somebody who has a history of denigrating you, because you think that’s a sign of strength, because that’s what being a man is? Putting women down?” Obama said. “That’s not acceptable. You’re coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses, I’ve got a problem with that. Because part of it makes me think – and I’m speaking to men directly – part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for that.”

Obama then slammed Trump’s vision of masculinity.

“And by the way, I’m sorry, gentlemen, I’ve noticed this, especially with some men who seem to think Trump’s behavior of bullying and putting people down is a sign of strength. And I am here to tell you that is not what real strength is. It never has been,” Obama said.

“Real strength is about working hard and carrying a heavy load without complaining,” Obama added. “Real strength is about taking responsibility for your actions and telling the truth even when it’s inconvenient. Real strength is about helping people who need it and standing up for those who can’t always stand up for themselves. That is what we should want for our daughters and for our sons, and that is what I want to see in a president of the United States of America.”
