The election is fewer than 30 days away, and LGBTQ Nation readers believe there are still ways the Harris-Walz campaign can gain more support.

In our most recent poll, we asked what Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) can do to win over more voters. Thousands of readers voted over the past week, overwhelmingly agreeing that the best thing Harris and Walz can do is appeal directly to Republican voters who aren’t satisfied with Trump.

Approximately 40.61% of respondents marked this choice, followed by 20.87% who think Harris needs to further detail her policy positions and 12.52% who want her to run more ads attacking Donald Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).

Only 10.54% believe Harris should highlight her progressive stances in a bid to appeal to the Democratic party’s left wing. This being the least popular suggestion makes sense, as it is the opposite of appealing to Republican voters looking for an alternative to Trump.

Trump’s erratic, unpredictable, and sometimes criminal behavior has already led many Republican leaders to publicly stand in solidarity with Harris. Some of them even spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, including former Trump White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, former U.S. Representative from Illinois Adam Kinzinger, and current Mayor of Mesa, Arizona, John Giles.

“He has no empathy, no morals, and no fidelity to the truth,” Grisham said at the convention.

“I love my country more than my party,” she declared, praising Harris as someone who “tells the truth” and “respects the American people.”

Another recent poll found that 36% of voters who supported Republican candidate Nikki Haley in the Republican primary plan to vote for Harris. So clearly, there are plenty of Republican votes up for grabs, and you all say it’s time for Harris to grab on.

LGBTQ Nation will have another poll next week at our Equality For All 2024 election news center. In the meantime, make sure you’re registered to vote.
